May Trek Tips

While we are trekking, it will be difficult to get to personal supplies in the 5-gallon buckets, which will be tied down beneath a tarp on the handcart. Anyone needing an inhaler or medication for allergic reactions may want to have a pocket on their apron, vest or shirt.

These pockets should be secure so important items don’t fall out and get lost. Feminine supplies could be stored similarly in a discrete pocket sewn into a slip or bloomers.

Tetanus bacteria, common in soil, dust and water, can be introduced through scratches, cuts and punctures. Youth who have not received a tetanus booster in the past 5 years should consider receiving one prior to Trek. The DTaP, Tdap, DT, and Td vaccines all contain the tetanus booster.
